Thursday, June 3, 2025, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Roma Tre University, Department of Business Study, Via Silvio D’Amico 77, Rome
Organized by:
Dr. Raymond P. Fisk (Founder and President ServCollab)
Background
The ServCollab Preconference Workshop focuses on the critical need to cultivate wise and sustainable service systems that address global challenges. Leveraging the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ServCollab has synthesized seven Service Research Themes: wellbeing, opportunity, resources, economics, institutions, the planet, and collaboration. These themes provide a pioneering perspective on how service research can contribute to human and planetary wellbeing. For more information on the Service Research Themes, visit the Journal of Services Marketing (https://www.emerald.com/insight/publication/issn/0887-6045/vol/38/iss/2).
The workshop aims to enable research teams to collaborate on impactful service research projects that align with ServCollab’s mission. Attendees will engage in brainstorming sessions to transform ideas into actionable projects, ultimately contributing to a broader collaborative research agenda.
Objectives
- To foster innovative service research projects that align with the seven Service Research Themes derived from the UN SDGs.
- To encourage interdisciplinary and cross-national collaboration among service researchers, enabling diverse perspectives and sustainable solutions.
- To integrate ServCollab-affiliated research into a cohesive global agenda, advancing the development of wise, sustainable service systems.
- To guide humanity toward service systems that prioritize human and planetary wellbeing through rigorous and impactful research.
Participation
The workshop welcomes emerging and established service scholars interested in contributing to ServCollab’s mission. Attendees will work collaboratively to brainstorm service research ideas that address critical global challenges. To join, researchers are encouraged to familiarize themselves with ServCollab Research Project Criteria available at ServCollab Research Criteria. Participants will be guided on how to align their projects with these criteria and become part of a larger ServCollab-affiliated research agenda.
During the workshop, attendees will form teams, explore research opportunities within the seven Service Research Themes, and work on transforming their ideas into sustainable action plans. The workshop will include a combination of plenary discussions and smaller breakout sessions to encourage collaboration.
